RC RTF Airplanes – The Lowdown
RTF RC models are by far the easiest and best planes to get started with if you’ve never flown RC planes before.
RTF is short for Ready to Fly, and, aside from attaching a few parts, there is no technical skill required in order to get your RTF model Plane all set for flight.
RTF model kits include all components like the engine, transmitter and battery packs, and for obvious reasons (to fit into the packaging box) the wings and tail are usually about all that needs to be fitted, which shouldn’t take more than a few minutes – then you’re on your way!
For those who aren’t particularly interested in spending the time required to build an ARF kit or one from scratch, and aren’t versed in all the technical jargon, an RTF aircraft is the perfect choice, so you can get out there and just fly the darn thing.
However, you’ll still want to take into consideration your skill level and your budget as not all RTF radio controlled planes are created equal and you’ll want to make sure you do your homework and select a kit that is just right for your needs.

If you’re just starting out, be sure to select a plane that is straightforward and easy to handle and operate, as controllers and their functions often become more advanced the more complex the model. And it’s likely to frustrate the wits out of you if you choose a plane that requires that little bit more experience than you have.
There is most definitely no shortage of RTF Airplane Kits on the market, so don’t be surprised if you have trouble choosing just the one. From micro planes that are great for indoor flying, all the way up to stunning replica jets, there is an RTF model plane to suit absolutely everyone, and most of us have quite a few in our collection.
So, by now you know the difference between ARF and RTF rc airplane kits, you’ve no doubt made up your mind just what you’re after, now go forth, perhaps visit our ‘Where to Buy‘ page if you’re unsure where to start, and track down that RC Model Plane with your name on it – Happy Flying!
